Emily Coombs shared the following idea to review Primary Program Songs, "I printed up one line from each song and removed several words (leaving blank spaces just like hangman). I would choose a child to come up and then I would show them the line from the song. If they could guess all the blanks in the line correctly, then they got to pick a song of THEIR choice to sing. But, if they couldn't get it right, then we had to sing the program song that the line was from. If they couldn't get it at first, I would tell them which song it was from and have the pianist play it for them if they wanted." NEW! 9-04-2008
Connie Adams shared the following idea, "In our ward, the Primary Music Leader does music the entire time the 1st Sunday of the month. For September, I am teaching the children the chorus part of "Search, Ponder, Pray" in sign language. While teaching the song, I will use Joseph Smith's First Vision, as an example, of how he searched, pondered, and prayed to receive answers to what church was true. (I am still developing my ideas of how I will do that). For the last few minutes, I will invite the children to do the same for their own personal testimonies. I will also give each child an invitation to give to one of their inactive, non-member friends to come to our ward primary program in October. During the month of September, they will search, ponder, and pray about who they can give the invitation to." NEW! 9-04-2008

Evelyn Thomas shares an idea she did with her Activity Day Girls. "Give the girls squares/rectangles of solid broadcloth or muslin. Have them draw a SIMPLE picture or message on a piece of paper then trace it to the material. Have them embroider the picture/message then make a quilt out of all the squares/rectangles and donate the completed quilt to the women's shelter or other charity." NEW! 8-27-2008

FYI: Just to avoid any confusion, when I say I'm going to be deleting the SugarDoodle blog, that is something seperate from this website. Nothing is happening to this site. I had a blog in addition to this site, where you could ask questions and network with others to get answers. Only the blog is being deleted. I'll still be posting and working on this site...I didn't mean to scare any of you. : )
UPDATE!!! Several things will be changing around here in coming weeks. I was hired this summer as a teacher and will be working full time. The first change is I am deleting my SugarDoodle blog. There are multiple reasons for this; however, I am replacing my blog with a live chat feature. There is a link to this under the tab "Popular" at the top of this page. Anyone can post questions or chat at this point. If it becomes necessary, I will change it so only registered members can post. However, for now, anyone can post. So, if you have a question, can't seem to find something, need an idea or would like to talk with other SugarDoodle users in real time, post away. I will be monitoring the chat area, but it will be very random. I have created this tool as a means to help you all network with each other as I will not be "as" available to answer questions. You are still welcome to e-mail me; however, I most likely won't be able to respond as quickly. I really appreciate all of your support. Please let me know what you think. To help encourage the children in singing and reviewing our songs for the program I took a foam board and put a picture representing each song down one edge. I made 5 stars for each song and laminated them. I then placed velcro on the board and on the back of the stars. You could also velcro the pictures on so you can change it next year. And then after we sang the song our pianist would then tell us how many stars we earned. You can also cut some of the stars in half as well. I put junior primary on one side of the foam board and senior primary on the other. The loved it. (Idea by Shelia White) NEW! 8-23-2008
