Scripture Clips/Bookmarks

Today I’m sharing a fun and trendy project perfect for your Young Women or even Activity Day Girls – scripture clips!

If you’re familiar with paper planners you’ve probably heard already that they’re making a comeback and the accessories that come with them make planning, or in our case – Personal Progress, scripture reading, and earning the Honor Bee – a lot more fun.

These simple clips are a great place marker and who doesn’t love a little sparkle as a reminder to read their scriptures or work on their Personal Progress goals?

You can make the clips ahead of time and give them as birthday gifts or at your next Evening of Excellence, or this project would be great to include at a mutual activity to keep the girls busy while you had one-on-one time with each girl to pass off completed Personal Progress goals and select new ones.

You might even want to introduce the Honor Bee goal to your girls and encourage them to plan to earn this award as well when they finish their Personal Progress or as they work on earning their medallion. All you’d need is a cute “honey” themed dessert and you’ve got a simple and fun mutual activity!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own scripture clips:

paper clips
adhesive
ribbon
rhinestone jewels*
hole punch
patterned paper

*any type of jewel or charm will do; however, these simple rhinestones are just a few dollars at Walmart or you can find similar ones in the dollar bins at Michael’s.

Select your jewels, adhere them to the end of the paper clip with a permanent adhesive (cover the back with a punched patterned paper circle) and allow to dry. Then knot a small length of ribbon under the jewel and you’ve got a scripture or Personal Progress book clip.

If you’re looking for a great way to help your girls plan Personal Progress goals, you can pick up a free printable (and use this cute clip) to attach it to their Personal Progress book.

The Honor Bee printables pictured are a great way to help the girls track their progress and can be found at Prickly Pear Design Co.

This Month’s Visiting Teaching Kit Is Something To BUZZ About!

I love bees!  Whether it’s Burt’s Bees for my chapped lips, my dessert plates with their embossed bees or our beloved President Hinckley’s 6 B’s. There are just so many reasons to love bees. Their work ethic, loyalty, gentle nature plus their complete dedication to making our world a little sweeter. That’s why this month’s Visiting Teaching kit is my favorite!  It helps sweeten the lives of our sisters and inspires them to “BEE” covenant keepers in such fun and fresh ways, which is something to “BUZZ” about!

Here are a few items and ideas you’ll find in this month’s kit…

Visiting Teaching Message and   with a “Testimony card” – my favorite part!

IDEA:  Share your testimony of how making and keeping temple covenants has blessed your life and given you strength and power during your trials. Isn’t this what it’s all about??   Share our  “BEE a covenant keeper” lip balm holder and lip balm wrapper:

HOLDER:   Simply score/cut along the horizontal dotted lines and insert a stick of chapstick through the loop!

WRAPPER:  Just cut out and tape around a tube of chapstick for a daily, cute reminder! Works perfectly with the holder or on its own!

Reach for the Stars

Reach for the stars wrapper-01

Sometimes it is the first step that is the hardest one to take. It takes faith and bravery to change directions and do something that is uncomfortable and not second nature to us. Sometimes doing the right thing, is not the easiest thing to do. Many times what is hard for one, may be a piece of cake for another. Our daughter Abby has a good group of friends and it is easy to fall in to a routine of hanging out and  letting time pass by. She loves being home with family and perhaps even more, she loves a clean bathroom and tidy bedroom. When she told us she was thinking about moving out and trying something different, we were surprised, yet so happy and thrilled for her new adventure…  She was listening to the spirit and ready to take that leap of faith. She is reaching for the stars as she takes this first step and we are all cheering her on!  Her first grocery trip was our treat!

These candy bar wraps make special treats for the just graduated seniors in your life or for the kids that need an extra boost of love and faith. Let them know you believe in them! They fit perfectly around a Snickers. Yum!  You can find them here

Take care, Brenda
