I didn't like it in the white recipe, because it made it more chewy and less crisp. I noticed, my family did not, they still loved it. I had a friend try it (who never tried the original recipe) and she thougth it was heaven, so if you have a chance, give it a try. I can see it being very useful for making the whole wheat softer. Hope this helps! I got the recipe off a Cool Whip package over twenty-five years ago. It's one of my family's favortite desserts. Try making the third layer with 2 small packackes of Wild Strawberry Jello and 1 3/4 cups boiling water. Mix well, then stir in 2 cups frozen chopped strawberries.
