So you think your ward has talent? PDF Print E-mail
by Janelle Webster / ga04142008

We just had a fantastic ward party with an American Idol Theme.  We had an MC (Ryan Seacrest) and all three judges. Most of the acts were gag skits meant to be funny rather than a real talent show.

~ Sang, "I got you babe"

~ Did a Batman dance in full costume and people held out words like “Wham” “Pow” and others at dips and at other opportune moments in the song.

~ We had “The UN-cloggers” and instead of clogging they danced with plungers as props. Pretty dang funny.

~ Mad Scientist. Melted a Styrofoam head with acetone, sent smoke rings into the audience and made a large blue flame come out of an Alhambra bottle with a big whoosh.

~ Lounge singer that sang Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree.

~ A sister was brought up out of the audience and she said she could do a trick and then backed up off the stage and a 17 year old gymnast did flips while dressed like her and in a wig that matched her hair. That was really funny too.

~ The highlight of the show was Napolean Dynamite. He brought the house down. He did the entire assembly dance with the T-shirt “Vote for Pedro” on. Here is a picture and you can see me laughing in the wings:

But at the finale, the MC just called seemingly unsuspecting ward members up to “do something cool” they all acted like “oh man, not me.” OR nooo I don’t want to, and then the music started, they all took position and danced “Thriller.”  It was awesome.

It was a sit down dinner and dessert adult party and people signed up to decorate tables with a theme. Here are some I liked:
