Angels Among Us PDF Print E-mail
by Katherine Eldredge / ga03212008

I found an idea an idea for Angels Amoung Us. We used some of her ideas but changed the content a little. We too set up poster of angels for about three weeks ahead of time. We handed out flyers with 'Angels Among Us, the date, time, and that dinner would be served. Food always seems to bring the sisters out. One handout had the angel on it. We even attached to small sized Hershey chocolate with a small invitation on which included our angel and the date and time information. Chocolate is always a favorite. We found the music for Angels Are Among Us (by Alabama).  Click here if you'd like to hear the song. We had invited all the young women. We asked two of the Young Men and their mothers to sing it as the opening song. (By the way, the song is from Alabama)

Table Display: We put some blue tulle on top of a white table cloth, The tulle was scrunched up a bit and then fluffed.  We tried to make it look thick something from heaven. We got this idea off of a web site. We put angel figurines in the tulle and then put the posters we had made on the side of the angels.

Dinner Tables: We used the round tables with white colored table cloths. We put some iridescent paper shreds in the center of each table and then we sprinkled some blue metallic shreds on top of that. We could have also gotten garland with stars on them or hung stars.  We printed our angel, three to a table. We printed them on blue card stock. We glued them back to back so they stood up in a 3 sided triangle The food was marinara sauce and alfredo sauce with bowtie pasta (we could have used angel hair). We bought the sauces from a local eating establishment and also bought garlic bread from them. We decided that we could cook our own bowtie. We added salad with dressing. For desert we served, you'll never guess.... of course angel food cake with strawberries and whipped topping.

As the sisters were finishing their dinner, we read some angel stories that we invited them to write. We actually received some heat felt inspiration stories. We all cried together as we felt the Spirit there with us. We had the representative from the humanitarian center in our area come and talk to us about what was in critical need at this point and we signed up for some of the projects that we would get together and do all year long.

As the sisters were eating we presented a slide show. I had a good friend that works with a professional photographer. She helped us take pictures of the sisters one day in Relief Society and made a slide show along with pictures of Christ. We explained that we should be more like Him and follow His example.

This was a very spiritual night for many of the sisters. We heard many positive comments and thank you's. We really had a good time and our Young Women seemed to enjoy it. They helped with the set up and the committee cleaned up with the help of many of the sisters. It was a wonderful night.
