LESSON HELPS:

 Church Babies Blog
I found this in an e-mail from LDS Living Magazine. "Play the following action memory game with your [class]. Have everyone stand up. Explain that you will do several actions such as clapping, shaking your head, touching your elbow, and so on. The children must watch carefully. They are to repeat your actions in the same order. Begin with only one action, and add an action each time. Challenge them to see how many actions they can follow. Encourage them to help each other too."  Praise them for watching, remembering, and following so carefully.  Liken this to remembering Jesus (during the sacrament) and following His example.  (Shared by Sheri Leishman / ga11082008)

Sunbeam Letter for Lesson 40 by Cynthia Mikesell - The content of this letter comes almost exclusively from the lesson book.  I just changed the language a bit so that it reads as if the child is telling the parent what they have done in class that day.  (Click here to see all letters written by Cynthia)

To go along with this lesson I made a big thinking bubble on a piece of poster board on one side I wrote in caption "What do you think about during the sacrament?" then inside the bubble I had pictures of Pizza, someone riding their bike, baseball, football(you get the picture fun stuff) on the other side unde the picture of the thinking bubble I wrote "What should you think about during the sacrament?" then inside the bubble I put pictures of the Savior, the Sacrament, etc... then I picked a child to come to the front of the room I held the bubble behind her head and asked the class what she was thinking about, the kids would go crazy telling her what she was thinking about, then I would flip it around to show what she should be thinking of during the sacrament. Got the point accross and the children enjoyed it.

I love this website. I been using a bookmark on my computer to access the excellent resources. This week when I went to the site, it there wasn't an section to select to go to the Primary 1 lesson helps
(the onese that were not listed right on the page).
This week there are only about 3 ideas and the part that I wanted to print was not longer there. What am I doing wrong??

I've been using this site for sunbeam lesson helps for about a year. This lesson is terribly disappointing.

I'm just curious why you say this lesson is terribly disappointing. What is disappointing about the lesson? :-?

Rebecca that bubble idea rocks! I can't wait to use it I know my Sunbeams will love it.

I love the "thought bubble" idea too. I found a link with blank "thought bubbles" you can print. http://xach.com/bubbles/speechbubbles.pdf

You could also cover the thought bubble with clear contact paper and cut out pictures from magazines so you can tape and remove the pictures of what they should/should not be thinking about.

Melanie, I think she meant that she was dissapointed that there was not as many resources for this lesson as there are for the other lessons.

  • lauren  - I made a file folder for this lesson

There was not a lot of actives posted for this lesson so I made a file folder game to go along with this lesson. I am not sure how to upload it to the side. If you would like it, email me lauren.rupper@gmail.com

  • Janell  - Expanded on the bubble idea

I spent some time working on the bubble idea this morning, here's a little printable that might help....

Ladies I think we should have an attitude of gratitude. If you are using this website each week that means you are not spending hours preparing because someone was generous enough to let you use their ideas for free! How about you read the lesson and come up with some of your own ideas and not complain on the website. I have been using this website for many years and really really appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. Im sure it takes hours to keep things updated and available for all of us.

Im thinking of bringing the sacrament trays in my class as a visual and using the pictures from GAK to talk about the life of Christ.

Sunbeams just like to do lots of different activities!
