Our Ward did a Nativity Bulletin Board for the month of Dec.2011 to bring the Spirit into our Ward Building for ALL church members during the month of Dec. Thought it was a good idea. This idea could be used for the Dec 2012 theme as well. I used photos from the new Nativity Movie shown on LDS.org in Dec. 2011 along with scripture passages. Also used the adorable photo of Jesus as a Child with Mary from the same photos, and wrote the words to "Jesus Once Was A Little Child." Also included a story from Pres. Monson's youth, and other photos of Christ. We placed the other Names Christ is know as down a big Bow Ribbon along each side of the Bulletin Board. Turned out very nice. Contact me for more closeup photos or information.

I am looking for your wonderful ideas to support the lessons each week. We are one lesson 44 for Dec. 9. Anyone have hints to make it come alive for this age group? This is my second week to teach the 8-9 year old class!

We are going to use the extra week in Dec by doing a special Christmas Lesson on week 4 when we will talk about the story of Pres. Monson and the train. We will talk with the kids about giving vs receiving. As a gift we made 'lifesaver' trains for each of the kids in our small primary. On week 5 we will do the Joseph Smith saw and testified of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas Everyone!

  • Jennifer Rybicki  - Gifts from the Savior 5th Sunday

For the fifth Sunday focus on the gifts we receive from the Savior. I did this last week and told the kids that gifts the Savior gives us are more important than what we receive on Christmas morning or get from Santa. (We had teacher appreciation that day.)

Make a Christmas tree or just draw on on the chalk board. Have children open a large box (wrapped) that has a lid on it to get the gift from Christ out. Place the gifts under the tree for all to see and count.

The gifts are pictures from the the Gospel Art Kit. Gifts are; Temples, families, eternal marriage, scriptures, prophets, families, baptism, priesthood blessings, the earth, animals and plants, primary teachers, prayer, revelation, the Holy Ghost (confirmation picture) patriarchal blessings, the Priesthood, Bishops, Apostles, Resurrection/eternal life that He died for us and gave his life for all mankind I told them all blessings and come from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

I think the kids were really surprised ...
