Hi, Can anyone figure out how to download the mp3 recording "As a Child of God" from lds.org? I have a MAC and can't seem to figure it out! Our primary doesn't have a piano so we rely on CD's to learn the songs. I'm also looking for a flip chart that doesn't take up so much ink. I have to cover all the cost for that myself. Thanks for the help!

Since there are 5 Sundays this month, we are introducing the Year's theme on Sunday with an overview of our incentive activity for the year. (I'm not sure if this activity came from someone on this site, but we will have a giant gumball machine where throughout the year, we will add paper 'gumballs'. On the gumballs will be written ways the children have used their agengy to choose the right.) The rest of the weeks will be all of the lessons in the outline only just a week late.

Pictures I used for my singing time help. There are a lot of them, but I am only the junior primary chorister and I really want my kids to learn these songs.

We are going to introduce the theme and then have the children color CTR shields to hang on the bulletin board. On the back of each shield we will have the children write a new-years-resolution-type goal of choosing the right to work on for 2012. At the end of the year we'll take them down from the bulletin board and re-read them to see how we all did.

Thank you for all the great ideas from this site. I just want to point out that in the sheet music you have linked to, there is an incorrect note in measure 6. The third quarter note in measure 6 should be an F and not an E-flat (see sheet music in Primary outline). It might be helpful to print and/or link a PDF directly from the outline.
P.S. The sheet music in the January 2012 Friend is in a different key but the note progression is the same.

Does anyone have a prayer chart to let the kids see whose turn it is to say the opening or closing prayer?

Since there are 5 Sundays in January I am going to use the first Sunday to introduce the CTR theme. I made a CTR shield and we'll talk about what shields do. I also am bringing in a coat of arms (also on a shield) and discuss what a coat of arms represents. Then I'll have each class make their own coat of arms (empty picture of shield)- putting on there ways that they can choose the right this year. This will be their class door sign for the rest of the year.

I created this video to teach the words to As A Child of God to our primary. Hope it's helpful.

I saw the comment on her somewhere that they are going to teach their primary children to sing the words to the song "As a child of God". Does anyone know of a website or a link that might have this so we can teach our children as well--we just loved this idea!

I love this song. The words are perfect for teaching the children our responsibilities here on earth to be able to live with Heavenly Father again.

I have a Mac too and was having issues, but now have it downloaded and in Itunes. I can't get it to paste the link here, but I can email you the mp3, that should work for you as well. I don't know what the protocol is for exchanging email info., so just let me know if you still need help and we will make it work somehow. Liz

Thank you so much for your help, I too found those instructions, and for some reason they didn't work for me, maybe it is because I'm on a MAC. But I did get it to work thanks to the help of a friend. Thanks again! Liz
