ACTIVITIES:

Bring in some larger clothes for the kids to try on.  Have the children tell you why we should wear a coat, shoes, hats, etc.
Build a sandwich (from Wonder Time) - Open this pdf file and print it off.  Have the children pretend to build a sandwich.  (You could even pretend to eat them.  Ask everyone how their sandwiches are.  Who likes onions?  Etc.)

LESSON HELPS:

Church Babies Blog
Here is an idea I'm going to use for the lesson Primary 1 Lesson 32 "I am Thankful for Food and Clothing".  I'm giving each child a brown paper sack with the phrase "I am Thankful for Food and Clothing". Then I'll give the children coloring pages with the pieces of a sandwich and other healthy food items so they can color, cut, and put the food in their "lunch bag". during the activity we'll discuss good foods to put in our body, and where the food comes from.  (Idea by Adrienne Ballantyne / ga08262009)
 I went onto
Making Friends - I printed out a template of a little boy. Then I printed the outfit that has the jean clothing. I cut out shoes, pants, shirt, hat.  Then I went into the seasonal clothes and printed out the jacket, raincoat, umbrella, and boots.  We will discuss how important all these clothes are and how they keep us modest and protect us from the sun and rain etc..... (Idea by Janis Peterson)

OTHER:

Sunbeam Letter for Lesson 32 by Cynthia Mikesell - The content of this letter comes almost exclusively from the lesson book.  I just changed the language a bit so that it reads as if the child is telling the parent what they have done in class that day.  (Click here to see all letters written by Cynthia)

The mormonchic website is does not take you to where you need to go....at least I couldn't find anything.

  • Elise  - Idea

I am going to bring a bag of potting soil and little cups with signs that say "I know where food comes from". Then I will show the kids what wheat berries look like. Then I will show them what a full stalk of wheat grass looks like. Then I will explain how we use grains for bread, crackers, cereal, etc.
Then we will fill our cups with soil and plant the little wheat berries for the kids to take home with them.

Yes, all of the mormonchic links lead to advertisments and such. I spent forever trying to find the dress a bear folder game and was taken from ad to ad to ad.

  • Elise  - Question

I have some printable pages that could be useful to add to this site. Is there a way for me to attach a document on here for anyone to use?
