Law of the Land Game (Made in Microsoft Publisher) - My activity was last night and I think it went over pretty well!! My advisor had made this huge die of foam and covered it. It was a lot of fun!! The girls wanted to keep playing until everyone had reached the end. I made slides of road signs in Power point and had our laptop there to ask the girls what the signs meant. I had also found a bunch of weird laws and the girls had to tell me why in the world someone thought that law was necessary. They really used their heads and came up with some good stuff!! Elder L. Tom Perry said: “All members of the Church should be committed to obeying and honoring the laws of the land in which they live. We should be exemplary in our obedience to the governments that govern us. The Church, to be of service to the nations of the world, must be a wholesome influence in the lives of individuals who embrace it, in temporal as well as spiritual affairs” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1987, 86; or Ensign, Nov. 1987, 71; see also D&C 134:1, 5).

SHARING TIME IDEAS:
I taught the junior and senior primary the 12th Article of Faith, tying it into the recent election a bit. For junior primary, I taught it, having the children repeat short phrases after me. The motivation was a large, wrapped present. I told them if they could learn the whole song in the short amount of time we had, I'd open this present and there was something inside for every child. I had just gotten those free Burger King crowns, and over the logo, I taped, "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers... from the 12th Article of Faith". The children earned the crowns of course, and were super excited. For senior, I just wrote on the board, "kings, presidents, rulers, magistrates, obeying, honoring, sustaining" in a column (just for a reminder of the main words of this Article of Faith). In another column, I posted word strips numbered 1-9. On the other side of the strips were the words: staccato, legato, largo, race the pianist, standing on one foot, boys only, girls only, pianissimo, fortissimo - one word on each strip. I just took turns asking the children to choose a number, we turned it over and whatever the direction was, we sang it that way. It helped them learn the 12th Article of Faith and it gave them some exposure to musical terms. And they loved it! (Idea by Charisse)
