alt When we sang "Oh what do you do in the Summertime", I broke up the song into the different things you do and gave each class one minute to come up with an action. Everyone sang the first and last line and then each class sang their line as they were doing the action they chose. It was fast, I didn't have to color any pictures and the children really enjoyed it.  (Idea by AnJanette Broderick / ga06232008)

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime
When all the world is white?
Do you shovel the walks,
Or sled in a park,
Drink mugs of hot chocolate?
Is that what you do? So do I.

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime
When all the world is white?
Do you have snowball fights,
Ski down from great heights,
Or skate on a frozen pond?
Is that what you do? So do I.

alt (Idea by Susan) In July, I taught the children "Oh, What Do You Do in the Summertime?".  They loved it so I thought I would do some winter time verses. This is what I have come up with:

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime, when all the world is white.
Do you sled down a hill, 'til you get a chill.
Or throw snowballs thru the sky.
Is that what you do, so do I.

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime, when all the world is white.
Do you put on your coat, and watch snowflakes float
to your tongue, but they get in your eye.
Is that what you do, so do I.

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime, when all the world is white.
Do you build snowmen small, or build snowmen tall,
and watch while they melt, Bye-bye.
Is that what you do, so do I.

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime, when all the world is white.
Do you stay warm inside, with friends by your side,
and play 'til morning is nigh.
Is that what you do, so do I.

Oh, what do you do in the wintertime, when all the world is white.
Do you sing Christmas cheer. Have those you love near.
Eat chocolate, cookies and pie.
Is that what you do, so do I.

alt Sung to the tune of, "Oh What Do You Do in the Summertime" on page 245 of the Children's Songbook, rewritten by Kristy Brinkman (ga11102009)

Oh what do you do in the Autumn time
When all the world has changed?
Do you jump in some leaves,
Or swing in the breeze,
And watch all the birds go by?
Is that what you do?
So do I.

Oh what do you do in the Autumn time
When all the world has changed?
Do you sip hot cocoa,
And wish for some snow
As you watch all the clouds go by?
Is that what you do?
So do I.
