Mid-Week Activities centered around....
Integrity
Color Coded Proclamations
We played "Who am I?" with names on our
backs. Could only ask yes or no questions. When everyone had guessed who they
were we then read the scriptures in this experience. We used Ruth, Joseph Smith,
Emma Smith, Nephi, etc.
Discuss with the girls the importance of
taking a stand. Together, write letters to the Governor or any
other elected official. Include in the letter something that is of
concern to you as a citizen. Ask what you can do to help solve the
problem and request a response back.
For the Strength of
Youth Bags
I
encouraged our girls to start a testimony scrapbook - as scrapbooking is all the
rage and most of them are really into this. It started as an Integrity project
for myself and when I shared the idea the girls loved it and it grew into
testimony scrapbooks. I made scrapbook pages from artwork in old Church
Magazines (you can pick up stacks at your local D.I.),
collected quotes and saying on Integrity (it's amazing how much you can find on
integrity quotes, etc. on an Internet search!), wrote my own thoughts and
testimony of integrity and even some journal entries from my past when I felt
integrity really helped me through something or I developed more of it, and put
them all together to make some pretty fun looking scrapbook pages. I even
found old lesson handouts from when I was a young woman to fill some spaces on
my pages. (Idea by Holly)
Puzzling Out Integrity - Clues are places throughout
the church. At each spot the girls will find a puzzle piece which they later
put together. The puzzle is a small scripture on integrity. Then have a short
lesson on integrity and give each young woman a handout with a picture of Christ
with the integrity scripture. Mount these on purple cardstock and decorate with
a ribbon.
Worthy
of Imitation - Each class might select a woman they would like to honor.
The guests could be from ward or stake. A statement is read by a
representative from each class about the woman selected by the class. Women
could be chosen who represent qualities of each of the seven values.
Puzzle Activity - Divide into groups. Provide a jig saw
puzzle (300 pieces) for each group. Award a prize to the first group to: 1)
get all their puzzle pieces turned right side up, 2) complete the outside
frame of their puzzle, 3) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for completing their
puzzle, 4) first group to get every piece back into their box after
completing the puzzle. Hold an “on-time” drawing and award a mini puzzle to
a young man or young woman who had arrived on time. This activity fosters
cooperation as the youth work together to complete their goal.
We had a "purple party" one
time, since purple is the color for integrity. Everyone dressed up in
purple and there was an award for the girl wearing the most purple. We had
purple decorations and grape punch. This was several years ago, and I don't
remember what else we did to tie it in to integrity. But, once you got the
girls there, you could tell stories of people who showed integrity. (Credit
