The Sharing Time Booklet

This activity was done in my Stake growing up...
this is what I remember...

As a brand new presidency, we decided that we needed to meet all the young women and their mothers.  So we visited every young woman's home and spoke to them and their mothers.  We found out everything we could about them.  Then we made a Sharing Book.  The first page had the scripture, "to every thing there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven."  Then we put a page in for each girl in alphabetical order.  We have each girl a copy at the following activity:

Our December activity was very special.  The theme was "light".  Our presidency started at one end of the ward and went to each each young woman's house (including inactives) until we were all together.  The plan was that each of us had a candle and we would light the candle, ring the doorbell and sing a Christmas song.  Then we would give the young woman a candle and go to the next home.  The young woman we had just picked up would then choose a Christmas carol to sing at the next home.  We gave each new young woman a candle and moved to the next home.  Because of the wind, the candles would not stay lit most of the time.  We ended up in one of the leader's basement all together.  She had candles all around the room with twelve in the center.  She read a Christmas story called, "A Gift of Light".  Then she lit her candle and the girl next to her read a pre-assigned scripture on light and lit her candle.  We continue around the circle until each girl had participated with the scripture or thought or prayer and all of the candles were glowing.  We then spoke about light and how one light is nothing compared to many and how important each girl is and how she must share her light with others.  Then we gave each girl a copy of "The Sharing Book" (see above) and turned the lights on for them to read it while we got refreshments.
