We put all the stuff in a brown paper lunch bag and folded the
top down, and paper punched it and attached the poem with curly ribbon.

I know you think it’s really cool, tomorrow you go back to school

Here’s a bag of things for you, We will help you make it through.

A penny for your thoughts, people say, it’s true..

Remember Honest Abe? Be like him “true blue”.

A shiny new marble, You might ask why,

When all yours are lost this will help you get by.

 

A rubber band, how funny, it does so many things.

Be flexible, be faithful, when life gives you a zing.

Next we have a Band-Aid, you know what those are for.

Our scriptures “aid” us every day, we couldn’t ask for more.

We also have a paper clip, they help you quite a lot

To hold on to your standards, the precious things you’ve got!

A bright, brand new pencil, just what you need

To be “lead” by the Spirit in thought, word and deed.

A package of gum, we know you love those

“chew”sing the right will help end all your woes.

A nice new eraser, so clean and so pure,

We all make mistakes, this helps fix them, I’m sure.

A safety pin, that’s weird. Could this be a mistake?

To hold it all together, something simple is all it takes.

And finally a candy kiss, a hug, best wishes too.
