Spoon Party
by Charlene Hunt

Invitations of plastic spoons tied with a 3 x 5 card were delivered to each girl inviting them to a "spoon party".  "Please come to _____ home and bring your choice of spoon with you.  That is all the information that was given.  When all the girls arrived we sat on the floor in a circle and placed our spoons in front of us.  The leader informed them that tonight we were going to be spiritually fed.  A returned missionary walked in and spoke to the girls for ten minutes about how to study the scriptures.  We then got out throw pillows, blankets, bean bag chairs, etc. On the floor and passed out the Pearl of Great Price to each girl and informed them we were going to read with each taking a turn.  We read for an hour--stopping to answer questions and then challenged them to finish reading the Pearl of Great Price at home on their own.  When they do they would have completed the goal.  Very well received activity.  Sundaes were made and they had to be eaten with the spoon they brought -- some small and some large.  The girls were told that it is important to be spiritually fed; as well as physically fed.
