It's Life!
Idea by Deanna

We had them all arrive at the "spirit
world" we coached them a bit, then gave them a copy of the scriptures and an
envelope that said birth on the outside. Inside was a scripture that talked
about baptism. They had to decide what the scripture meant and then where to
find it. (obviously at the baptismal font) We used testimony, chastity, 10
commandments, tithing, etc. We also used marriage, in which they chose an
envelope and it contained a number. Once they got to a certain place (we
decorated the room with wedding pictures and temple pictures, etc.) they had
to wait there until the person who shared their number then they continued
on together from there. There were things thrown in like "tried to jump the
grand canyon on a motorcycle and missed, report to spirit prison" and stuff
like that.
Well we also had "Satan" walking around disguised as a good looking guy with
a huge plate of brownies that no one could resist. He was asking everyone if
they got their blessing yet...BUT...they had to trade a blessing for a "key"
that they had (the slip of paper that had birth on the back and the
scripture that led to baptism on the front was their "Key".
After the event was over, I had a girl ask me, "Were we suppose to give the
keys to this guy for a brownie?" I said "I don't know...what do you
think? She said well the brownie was a blessing. So I asked her if she
gave him anything for a brownie. She said she gave up birth and baptism. I
was sort of stumped as to what to say, so I told her that he was
representing Satan and that he took her birth and baptism that would mean in
the pre existence that she chose Satan side rather than Christ's side. She
was so mad and said...that isn't fair he deceived me...I said...it's Satan,
of course he deceived you. (they ended up married later)
It turned out that there were only a few who didn't need "blessings" We told
them everything... what they had just gone through etc. Then we separated
them into groups based on what keys they gave away.
We had decorated 3 rooms with just glow in the dark stars, another with a
lamp and chairs and the other with the light on and a couch etc.
So we took the first group and took them to the "telestial kingdom" Then we
went and got the group that hadn't given up too much for a blessing and took
them through the first room, and into the "terrestrial Kingdom". Then got
the group who didn't give up anything through both rooms and into the
Celestial kingdom"
It turned out that a non member was included in the group who made it to the
celestial kingdom and him and the Bishop spent about an hour discussing what
had just transpired. He was baptized about a month later and while at
the Palmyra pageant we had a testimony meeting behind the Joseph Smith Home
and he said that there was so much that just didn't make sense to him and
the 3 degrees of glory were one of those things. And after being put to him
the way it was it made so much sense that it was when he decided that
joining the church was the right choice to make. It was an awesome feeling.
There was another girl who was heading down the wrong path in life and it
sort of opened her eyes as well. I guess knowing that the simple
choices you make in life can have such drastic results later made some
people really think.
