Twenty One
 



Objective: For team members to problem-solve and to communicate non-verbally with one another during an activity.

Group Size: 6 to 27 is ideal

Materials: None

Description: Divide the group into two or three team of three to nine members. Each team appoints a "counter" who will add up the number of fingers held up by the group.

Prior to giving the directions of the game, instruct the group that There is no talking allowed for the remainder of this activity, with The exception of counting by the team "counter". The "counter" may participate or watch.

Each team stands in a circle, facing each other, with their hands behind their backs. The leader counts "one, two, three" and on "three".  Each person hold out zero to ten fingers. The "counter" adds them up, and if all the fingers together equal exactly twenty-one the team has won the round. If no team reaches twenty-one, everyone immediately puts their hands back behind their backs and continues to play until one team comes up with twenty-one. Remember, no talking!
