Give each girl a small polished stone (they sell them in small bundles in
netting at Wal-mart). Attach the following quote: "Each
day slowly shapes our lives, as dripping water shapes the stone." Ask them
to think about this... each day, when we eat the right things and give our
bodies exercise, it will make us strong, just like this stone.

Angela's Lesson
Helps
Celebrate the gift of the body (from BYU Women's Conference)
Encourage Healthy Eating Habits (from BYU Women's Conference)
I
did this lesson last week and in the beginning had the girls write down
everything they ate the day before. At the end we shared what we ate and it
went over pretty well. I made trail mix for the girls and gave a handout with
the scripture from Corinthians. (Idea by Cindy Wright)
I
started out with bringing a gift that I had received from my sister and told the
girls how important it as to me and how I looked after it etc, etc - then said
we are going to learn how to care for a gift that we have received - I then went
into the lesson - if I had planned better I would have asked one or two girls to
bring something precious to them and tell why and how they looked after it.
I used a few quotes from the talk from www.lds.org in the resource section by
Diane Spangler. For the handout I used a gingerbread man template (Click
here for copy of handout) that I got off the internet, put some
quotes inside it from the talk and printed it out on cardboard. I then threaded
toothpicks through either hand and put marshmallows on them to look like
dumbbells - really easy and cute. A scripture that I used that wasn't in
the manual but I got from one of the resource talks was 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 -
especially liked v.20. (Idea by Jacqueline Jennings /
