This is a very short lesson so I am going to teach what's in the book and then
play a game called WHO WHAT WHERE WHY HOW. You divide the class up in two groups
and there is about 7 or so questions with each title. Each team takes turns
picking which title they want. The questions are something to go along with
having the knowledge to teaching. Example: WHERE was the latest temple built? Or
WHAT did some women in the parable of the lamps run out of?

Christy's Clipart
Go to a pharmacy and get some medicine bottles. Fill them with jelly beans
or similar candy. Put the following phrase on the label: "I can prepare my
friends to heart the gospel and the best vitamin for making friends is
B-1."
I made these hands outs for my class to go with Lesson 19 (click
here for a copy of the handout...pdf file). I wanted to help
demonstrate all that we can do as individuals to help see and help those who
are “Lost”. We discussed each part of our body and we can do to help bring
people back into the fold or just make them feel loved. (Idea shared by

Prepare to teach others

Challenge the girls to teach their next Family Home Evening. If they say,
"We don't have FHE." Reply be saying, "What better time to get started
than now?" You may want to prepare an outline or something to help them
get started.
Explain that by developing the qualities and attributes listed in
Doctrine and Covenants 4, we can be an example to many others and
interest them in the Church. Discuss ways they can be good examples so other
people will want to learn about the Church.
For my lesson, I came in
late and disrupted opening exercises. I had six pieces of gum in my mouth, my
bag full to bursting, nothing ready in the room, and when our Laurel turned the
time over to me I just sent her a blank stare and blew a bubble before I said,
"It's not my turn to teach." I really had them going as I fumbled and made my
way to the front. I kept up the act as I set up the table, put out handouts, and
listened to them whisper. Then I asked them to think about the best
teacher they've ever had and what qualities that teacher has. How their lessons
are taught and how much time is spent preparing for that lesson. Then we
discussed the difference in the beginning of our class and their favorite
teachers' classes. Our YW really focused on different teaching styles and why it
doesn't have to be intimidating. It made an impact - more of one than I
had thought. I used the article from the September New Era that was suggested. I
was shocked at how much my YW got into this one. (Idea by Stephanie Thomas /

Set up a row of dominoes. Place them on end just far enough apart
so that if one is knocked down, it will knock down the next one. As you knock
the first domino down, ask them to observe the chain reaction. Call attention to
the effect of one domino upon all the others. Explain that we too may affect the
lives of others (family and friends) in a chain reaction. By sharing the gospel
with even one person, we sometimes touch the lives of many others.

“Give
me a young woman who loves home and family, who reads and ponders the scriptures
daily, who has a burning testimony of the Book of Mormon. Give me a young woman
who faithfully attends her Church meetings, who is a seminary graduate, who has
earned her Young Womanhood Recognition award and wears it with pride! Give me a
young woman who is virtuous and who has maintained her personal purity, who will
not settle for less than a temple marriage, and I will give you a young woman
who will perform miracles for the Lord now and throughout eternity.” (President
Ezra Taft Benson)
