I had a girl look up the meaning of tradition in the dictionary. Then told them with that in mind to all think of one tradition that they had in their family. We went around the room and each shared a tradition. This was really fun. I ended with mine. I told them a fun one and then how my family always meets together on Christmas Eve at my brother's house. It gets really wild
but after we exchange gifts we go around the room a tell one thing we are thankful for... I proceeded to tell them that my brother's nephew and how his thankfulness and humble spirit really touched my heart. Then I asked them why they look forward to the traditions that each of them talked about....because these things touch their heart and give them joy and happiness. This was a great lead into the lesson and focusing on the righteous things that become traditions  and can have a rippling effect for generations. I placed word strips of the five things onto flowers and posted them on the wall. At the end of the lesson I told the girls that each one of these things are beautiful (as I took them off the wall and arranged them in a vase).  But together they were even more beautiful. I gave each girl a foam flower with a tootsie pop center and told them to start their bouquet of righteous traditions now.  The girls actually commented that they liked the lesson.
