A seed knows its worth
Idea by Kirsten Ulmer

I tend to lose my spot and it gets all awkward. Instead, I like to put it into my own thought and read from there. Here is the intro I have so far.  I want to start out with some little introductions since I am new. While the girls are talking I'll start setting up for the lesson, including pulling apples and the caramel out of my bag. I'll start cutting the apples while I am talking and at the end of my intro.  I'll go right into the lesson.

Has anyone here ever thought about what it must be like to be a seed?  After all, you are small, plain, and easily thrown aside . . . Fortunately, a seed knows its purpose and its worth.  After all, who can say how many apples and even trees will come from one small seed.  We are like that sometimes. Fortunately, we have ways of knowing our own purpose in life.

Give the girls the apples to dip in the caramel during lesson.

The handout I made is just a quote from the lesson and the five things mentioned, but I made it small enough that they can put it on a mirror or in a book.  For my inactive beehive, I plan on dropping of some of the apples with the quote. If we can, I will share just the little apple analogy and tell her how important each of us is and that Heavenly Father knows us better than we know ourselves.
