Handout from Christy's Clipart
I plan to give the girls each a
small jar with quotes from General Authorities, and scriptures. which will focus
on forgiving ourselves. On the outside I will have the handout from
Christy's YW Handouts
which is the scripture used in the lesson Isaiah 57: 20-21. I will tell the
girls that each of us make mistakes and cloud our lives and we should live our
lives righteously but we must be willing to forgive ourselves when we make
mistakes. I may put some candy in the jar along with the quotes, and talk about
the sweetness of forgiving. Elder Eyring gave a talk several years ago about not
letting our yesterdays hold hostage our tomorrows. I haven't found that quote or
actually any of the quotes I will use yet, but I will be working on it today,
and will share if anyone is interested. We have girls in our class that
compare themselves to each other and have a hard time letting go of the things
that they do wrong. (Idea by Dixie Rizzo)

I had an idea pop into my mind with a fun handout idea. In the Resource Manual
article, "FYI: A Witness For Jesus Christ" by Darrin Lythgoe, in the last half
he writes about the
youth's Attitude: "Be happy. . ." Well, light bulbs went off and the song,
"Don't Worry, Be Happy" came into my mind. Then I remembered an Education Week
class I attended a few years ago with the same title. It was great and basically
talked about not worrying, just be happy and know that our Heavenly Father is in
charge. Continue with peace in
your heart to faithfully live the Gospel. Oriental Trading has some really
cute
key chains. I'd ordered them last
spring figuring I'd use them in a lesson "some day." Well, it's some day,
finally. As a handout for the girls, I'll attach "Don't worry Be happy.
Put a spring in
your step by continuing to Live Righteously. The gospel of Jesus Christ is where
you'll find true happiness (1 Nephi 8: 10). Knowing Heavenly Father is in charge
gives you peace of mind and will calm your troubled heart." I also thought
it would be fun to somehow have large quotes from the lesson on yellow paper cut
in a happy face circle. (Right. Like I'll have time to do that. I always have
more ideas than time.) Anyway, I'm going to share with them an incredible
personal experience I had two summers ago when my daughters and I went on the
BYU Tour, "Journey To The Times Of The Book Of Mormon". It was pretty amazing.
