We did an object lesson regarding the
Sabbath day...We had told them we were going to be having ice cream sundaes and
... we gave them their bowls and spoon and started dishing out the ice cream...
as this was being done I started putting out the toppings such as:
Pepperoni, chopped onions, grated cheese, BBQ sauce and some cheeze whiz.....
they started grossing out. I asked them why what's wrong, don't you like cheese?
or onions, pepperoni etc. they came back with "Yeah, but not on Ice cream" so we
talked about the Sabbath day and how it is exactly like the same. Some
activities we do during the week are not bad activities just not appropriate for
Sundays. I think it got the point across. I also made up a
FHE
packet for them to present on Monday on the Sabbath so they could mark off a
personal progress experience. (Idea by Michelle Cooper/ga07142006)
-Additional Ideas for this object lesson: (by Line from Tahiti) I'm thinking of doing it with
pancake because I don't have a place to keep the ice cream too. For the
different syrup there will be soy sauce, ketchup, mayo, mustard, oyster sauce .
. . And for the better choice there's going to be peanut butter, strawberry jam,
chocolate spread (nutella).
-Additional Ideas for this object lesson: (by Tricia Luker) I found the same packet but
knew that ice cream wouldn't work for our Sunday lesson because there is no
place to keep ice cream on Sunday morning [our kitchen is locked]. So, I made
the cupcakes that look like ice cream and did the rest the same. The girls
thought it was fun.
