Secret Sister Idea

Since we just started our combined Young Women and Relief
Society opening exercises
this past Sunday, I wanted to work hard on our girls feeling more comfortable
with transition efforts. So 3 weeks ago had the girls (the beehives planned it
out) received names of sisters the Relief Society President thought needed extra
attention. We assigned each Young Woman a secret sister. They were asked to do
at least 3 things before last night for them. They were creative and had a lot
of fun. Some even did bull horns when they dropped off their goodies. Then we
sent out beautiful invitations to a dinner where their secret sister was
revealed. That was last night. We had baked potatoes (the leaders provided these
and toppings, and each girl brought salads and Strawberry shortcake for desert.
The girls mingled with their secret sisters and found out more about them, (they
still did not know who was their provider of the fun) and then during desert the
girls introduced their secret sister, and what they had learned. The Relief
Society sisters talked, got to know each other as well as the girls and then I
ended with the statement of reason for the transition and how wonderful for the
girls to know them, and hope they would continue to mentor these girls as they
attend Relief Society events. It was simple and so enjoyable.
