Follow the Heavenly Road

Everyone will meet in the chapel. There will be prelude music playing. We will have opening exercises.  We'll announce that there has been a tornado warning so we will exit the chapel (through certain doors).  The parents of each ward will be directed to a room with their Bishop (Young Women room, Primary  room). The youth will be directed through a "tornado" to the last section of the gym (closest to the baptism font). They will sit on the floor.

Glenda the witch will enter and welcome the youth. She will briefly talk about the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet and each youth will receive the small tri-fold booklet. Glenda will direct that there will be road to follow and that there are bad witches out there (temptations).

The Scarecrow (brain/knowledge) will enter. He will discuss the importance of gaining knowledge through education, seminary, going to church meetings, reading the scriptures and keeping our bodies healthy.

The youth will then be directed to follow the yellow brick road with the Scarecrow. In the next section of the gym, the Tin Man will enter (heart/love). He will discuss service, compassion, fellowshipping relationships (esp. with parents) and gratitude.

The youth will then be directed to follow the yellow brick road with Scarecrow and Tin Man into the next gym section. The youth will meet the Cowardly Lion (courage). The Cowardly Lion will discuss integrity, honesty, having courage to do what is right, having courage to be who the youth know they should be.

Glenda will enter in again. She will discuss that the youth have the tools to return "home" - For the Strength of Youth, etc. She will direct them "home" - through last partitions into the chapel where the parents will already be waiting and music will be playing.

We're planning on having speakers discuss the last couple of topics: dating, sexual purity, agency & accountability, repentance and going forth with faith.

Then we will have closing exercises and refreshments.
