Super Halloween Party
Idea
by Bonnie Howell

Game: Waiter, there's a Head in my Soup!
Form two lines (this is a relay). Beforehand, give each child their
own paper plate and a balloon that they have drawn a face on. Play
Halloween music in the background. At "go" the first person at the
head of the line has to walk to a designated point holding his "balloon
head" waiter style on his paper plate. This isn't that easy to do
because the balloons want to blow off. So, if they do, they have to
finish the rest of the race walking backwards. When they get back to
their starting point, the next person continues. The first team to
finish wins.
Mummy wrap!
This is played in several teams of two people. Each two person team is
given a roll of toilet paper (cheap will do, but be careful because it
breaks easily). At "go" one person wraps the other "mummy style"
starting at the feet and working his way up to the head. When the
"mummy" is wrapped, he has to hop to a designated point, turn around and hop
back. The first to finish wins. Then you plan it again with the
other person being wrapped.
Scary Musical Chairs
Just the traditional game only using "Monster Mash" for the music. You
can also do "Cooperative Musical Chairs." Instead of taking one chair
and one person out each time, you take out one chair and leave all the
children in and they have to sit on somebody's lap. You eventually end
up with one chair and about ten children sitting on it. They really
enjoy doing this!
Other Activities
Have someone paint faces.
Have a fortune teller tell fortunes by lighting up a lava lamp. Only
good fortunes of course.
Mad Scientist's Laboratory
Food to serve
Freeze Kool-Aid in surgical gloves and float the
"hands" ice in your punch (break off the glove first).
Fill surgical gloves with popcorn, bur first put a
candy corn in the tips of the finger for the nail. Tie closed.
Make "Bat Brew" by filling 7-up and grape juice in a
punch bowl and putting in scoops of green sherbet. This looks awful
when the sherbet starts to melt but even the parents go back for seconds
because it tastes so yummy. Serve it with a gummy worm hanging off the
side of the cup.
Decorate a sheet cake like a graveyard. (Version
1,
Version 2) Use crackers or
cookies for tombstones. Use black food coloring to make the icing a
gray color.
Make orange popcorn balls.
Decorate your serving table with fall leaves over a Halloween table cloth or
even a piece of Halloween fabric. I even draped orange lights (like
Christmas lights) around the food.
Serve Oreo cookies with orange filling.
Serve cupcakes decorated for Halloween, better yet, bake the cupcakes in ice
cream cones. Be careful not to fill the cones too high or they will
overflow.
