Without a doubt!
Credit Unknown
We have been focusing our entire theme on testimonies this year. Our theme is
"Without a Doubt." The June 2002 New Era is a whole issue devoted to
testimonies (see bottom of page). Every single article is helpful.
We are teaching our Young Women that there are five basic things they can bear testimony
of (others of course can be added, and may fall under the five things). They
can remember these five things by looking at the fingers of their hand.
1. I know that God lives and that he loves me (and that he hears and answers my
prayers).
2. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Redeemer of the World, and
that He died for me.
3. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that through him the gospel was
restored.
4. I know the Book of Mormon is the revealed word of God.
5. I know that Gordon B. Hinckley is God's prophet on the earth today.
Perhaps they do not know all five. They only need to say the ones they know. If
they don't know yet, they can say, "I want to know."
Telling how you came to know one of these things is true is always appropriate.
A testimony is not a talk. It is not a great story (if you have one, save
it until you are asked to give a talk). A testimony is not a travelogue.
It is not a place to list all the things on our mind. It is a time to
share the things we know are true, without a doubt.
The day before our testimony meetings, which are the last evening, we are having
an opportunity for "friendimonies." Each ward will decide how that happens. "Thankamonies"
may be a better word.

I think I have a testimony,
but sometimes I have doubts. Does that mean I really don’t have a testimony?
What should I do?
