Solid Testimony to withstand temptation
by Alma Heaton

Materials Needed:

1.  A heavy rock, labeled "testimony"
2.  Inflated balloon, labeled "testimony"
3.  Small board with a nail driven through it, labeled "temptation"

Presentation:

1.  Show rock labeled "testimony".  Point out that it has a few rough places.
2.  Now show the balloon labeled "testimony."  It seems smooth and good.
3.  Using the nail on the board labeled "temptation," scratch the surface of the rock.
4.  Then, pop the balloon with the "temptation" nail.

Lesson Application:

1.  There are two kinds of testimonies: one is strong, while the other is weak and full of hot air.

2.  We have to work hard to get a "rock" testimony.  It comes by searching the scriptures, praying, and other things we have talked about.

3.  The "balloon" testimony is easy to have.  It is the "Sister....said-it-was-true-so-I-believe-it-is-true" testimony.  There is little inside of it and nothing to make it strong.

4.  When confronted with temptation, the "rock" testimony suffers only a few scratches, but the same temptation bursts the "balloon" testimony.
