Reverence Tag

Something that our Stake suggested that really works for us is Reverence Tag. As always, the children are in that Primary room lightening fast out of the chapel. We have closing exercises so we begin Primary with just Junior. We try as a Presidency to be there first to welcome them as they come in - although often it is just me. My favorite time is to recognize or talk to each one for a second as they are getting there and get to know them better. But after the initial welcome, their favorite thing to do is start playing Reverence Tag. You choose one person to show a reverent example in front and then they quietly go tap someone else on the shoulder who is being reverent and then they get to come up to the front and the cycle continues. Whenever it is time to start Primary, we say "Okay, remember that it is your turn to start reverence tag next week. And they don't forget, I tell you. It's quick and has helped start things smoothly while music gets going and teachers filter in.
