We had our birthday celebration this week. We had High Tea
with Emma. We started by having a demonstration and talk on what a "high Tea"
is.
High tea is actually a meal. It's the tea that was taken with real food
therefore they used a "high table" and so it was a high tea. When it was just
tea and scones etc. it was done on a coffee table.
Then our demonstrator taught us about cream horns and chocolate
desserts, and homemade strawberry shortcake. Everything was beautiful and
drizzled with chocolate. We had teapots at each table and lots of different
teas. We had homemade bread with honey butter and strawberry butter. The sisters
made shepherd's pie as a main course.
We had a play about the beginning of Relief Society. It was very informative and
we all felt the spirit of the beginning. Two of our sisters made bonnets for
everyone, they were beautiful.
We sang "As
Sisters in Zion" at the end. I really felt like the evening was
sweet. I never knew that the original sisters did so many varied things, like
selling wheat and growing silkworms and becoming doctors and getting involved in
suffrage. Makes you feel proud!!
