Ask someone from your waste management department to come and speak to your youth group, relief society or group of families about the benefits of recycling and how to do it.  You could ask to meet at their facility and take a tour. 
You could go on a scavenger hunt in your neighborhood collecting recyclable refuse to take to a recycling center.
