Singing Spray

I
did something new last week in Primary that ended up being really fun. I
filled a squirt bottle with Crystal Light Lemonade and called it my "singing
spray" and told the kids that if they sang really well they would get a
squirt of it. Boy did they sing that day. They couldn't wait to get that
spray. Some of the members of the presidency even opened their mouth for a
squirt. One caution though, make sure it is not on the spray, but on the
stream or it will get all over their mouths.
Additional Ideas by Penny: I call this my "magic spray"... I use
lightly colored water. So in case it gets on clothes it doesn't harm them. I
tell them it lubricates the vocal cords after they've been "used" a lot.
That way the kids who don't sing, don't need any because they aren't in fear
of need the "lubrication!".....
It worked great for my older boys!!! I had two different really fun looking
spray bottles. One that looked like a big circle that was purple and one
that looked like a diamond and it was red. Think I got them at Wal-mart for
a buck or two. BIG HIT!!! I used it when we would review songs... Kids will
sing a song 15 times and keep singing.... to get the lubricant....
Additional Ideas by Luana Willis: I did the singing spray
yesterday. It was so much fun! I had a water bottle that had birdhouses and
flowers on it, so I decided to use it like fertilizer. It works like Miracle
Grow. So I put a label on the front that said Miracle Sing. I told the kids I
was a gardener, I had all kinds of beautiful singing flowers.
I was so thrilled to have a short sacrament meeting yesterday so I got 30
minutes in junior primary! It was FABULOUS! I had time to give everyone a
little squirt 3 or 4 times. Their little pudgy faces just cracked me up!
Some were not brave enough to try it the first time. Some would close
their eyes as tight as they could and open their mouths. They were just so
cute. One little boy raised his hand and said, "I am your singing flower,
and I am AWESOME!" He is so cute. His name just happens to be Shark Boy--at
least that's what he says.
I would give everyone a squirt and then ask them what would need to happen
so that we could have a singing miracle the next time we sang. They
threw out ideas to me--singing with sweet voices, sitting up tall, all
looking at me, everyone doing their best. Then we would sing, and it would
happen! There would be a miracle. It was amazing.
