Here is an idea from Christy's Clipart.
(Idea from January 2007 Friend) Tell the children that the first
part of the song talks about praying in faith, and the second part of the song
explains how to pray. While we want to pray correctly, it is more important to
pray with faith. Explain that Joseph Smith did not know exactly how to pray, but
he prayed with faith, and Heavenly Father answered his prayer. Bear witness of
Joseph Smith and the power of prayer.
(Credit Unknown) When I taught
I pray in faith the primary counselor and I did a little "play". We came
in with our sleeping bags, pillows, and acted liked we had just got done
watching a move and were going to bed. We also worse our bathrobes,
slippers, etc.. She was staying at my house by the way. And when we
said goodnight I sat down on my sleeping bag and started praying.
She whispered "Angela what are you doing"
I responded by singing "I kneel to pray everyday"
She said "everyday...what for?"
I sang "I speak to Heavenly Father"
She said "why would you do that?"
I sang "he hears and answers me when I pray in Faith"
Then she said "really....how do you do that?"
I sang "I begin by saying dear Heavenly Father"
she said "then what"
I sang "I thank him for blessings above"
she said "that sounds really cool...then what would you do?"
I sang "then humbly I ask him for things that I need"
she said "how do you end the prayer?"
I sang "In the name of Jesus Christ Amen"
The kids were absolutely enthralled. It was the quickest learned song that
year I think :-)
