I am like a Star

Tell the children that they can be like stars when they have courage like Esther. Ask them what they could do and what they could say to show the kind of courage Esther had. Alternate between what the children can do (“I can invite a friend to Primary” or “I can turn off a television show that isn’t appropriate”) and what they can say (“I don’t think the words to this song are very good. Let’s listen to something else” or “Let’s include Joey in our baseball game. He looks lonely.”).  [Suggestions taken from the September 2006 Friend]

Here is an idea from Christy's Clipart.

(Idea by Katie Boeckel)  I taught it to senior primary (most of them knew it anyway), just by singing it with them like 3 times.  But I was really impressed with the way I did it for junior primary, and just wanted to share my actions in case anyone is looking (or will be).

Line 1: We held our hands in a diamond shape above our heads

Line 2: Sang with a smile and our hands formed to make a circle (the
world) in front of our bodies

Line 3: Point at our mouths and smile

Line 4: sign language (we had already learned all of the words because we did I Know My Father Lives in sign language earlier this year)
