Here We Are Together

At the time I was the music leader and planned something to the effect of how much we have in common. I think (remember this was a year ago and I have trouble remembering what happened yesterday!) I started out with the song "Here We Are Together" and at the point where the names are said, I pointed to each child and they said their name. The pianist kept playing the same refrain over and over again until we went through the entire group...teachers too. Example: "Here we are together, together. Here we are together in our primary. There's Tommy and Susan and Eric and Jason and Melanie and Kyle and Betty and, etc., etc. (Finally the refrain) Here we are together this bright, sunny day."

I started out by asking who went to such and such elementary school (there are a least 5 different ones that our kids attend in the ward) naming them all until they were all named and the kids had a chance to raise their hands. Then I said something to the effect that we may go to different schools, but we have something in common that we all go to school. Then we would sing a song like "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam".

Other things in common were:

We all have a family....(sing A Happy Family)
We all belong to the Church of Jesus Christ (sing The Church of Jesus Christ)
We are all God's children (sing I Am a Child of God)
We all have a body (sing Head Shoulders Knees and toes) We sang this a few times getting faster and faster trying to beat the pianist.
