Primary
Clock (pdf file)
Circles (pdf file)
I actually have a
song clock that we use for family home evening. I included a pdf file of the
song clock and the song clock's circles that you put with sticky tack onto the
12 spaces of the clock. For the hands on the clocks, I used a brad fastener to
keep them in place which still allowed you to spin the hands. On the back of
each of the circles, I wrote a ton of different songs from the Children's
Songbook which is why I included another sheet of circles, that way I can rotate
through all of the circles so we aren't singing the same songs over and over
again. I also made a little block of wood and I wood burned (or you can use a
fine tip sharpie marker) a bee (which meant to hum), a bow (which meant only
girls sing), a lion (which meant to sing loud), etc. to represent how you are
supposed to sing the songs. The idea is that while singing the song, one child
will roll it a few times throughout the song, telling you how to sing the song,
whether humming (the bee), or girls only (the bow), or quiet (the mouse), etc.
based on what the child rolled. These directions are actually explained in more
detail on the song clock page that I attached. I grew up using the song clock
and my siblings and I loved it! I've also used it for Sunbeams a couple times
and the kids are always asking to sing songs using the clock!
P.S. Thanks to Shannon's mother for drawing the clock and clipart.
ADDITIONAL NOTE - Pat Graham wrote a sharing time that goes along with this
theme. It is located in the
October 1983 Friend Magazine.
