How to get more singing time in....
- I was very frustrated about not enough time...so I went to the presidency
and asked if singing time could be first in the Sharing time line up. I felt
that often after the presidency presentation, they would end of a very
quiet, spiritual note and then I would get up and say "OK, let's all stand
and SING!!" Gone was the quiet, reverent feeling as I tried to energize the
kids. I felt very strongly that the music would set a great tone for the
teaching part. They went for it and IT WORKS GREAT!! I always get a full 20
minutes!! I make a point to "bring the children down" and prepare them for
the next part of sharing time. If you are not getting the time you
need, perhaps this would be a solution!! (Idea by Erika Soelberg /

- I have found to play the CD, with the Article of Faith song we are
learning that month, on repeat while the kids are walking in. I sing it over
and over with the CD and the kids join in. The first of the month I have the
words on the board and I slowly have less and less each week. The kids in
our Primary never listened to the prelude music anyway, and this way I can
squeeze in a learning time without taking up more of singing time. (Credit

- Each week I have a list of prelude songs for the
pianist that I want to sing as the kids are coming in. I encourage them to
sing with me and get 5-7 minutes of extra singing that way. I always start
with articles of faith and then include other fun things that I don't always
have time to do during singing time. In junior I sing the articles of faith
and then sing wiggle songs to teach them new ones. (Anonymous contributor /
