A twist on name that tune

We put a twist to the classic game Name That Tune.  We played Hum That Tune.  I loaded primary songs on my iPod (could work with cassette tape or CD player).  I would choose a child to come up and put the headphones on.  I did not tell that child what song I was going to play.  It was a surprise to them too.  Once the song started, they had to start humming the song they heard.  The other children had to listen carefully and see if they could figure out the song.  I wouldn't start taking guesses until the child was able to hum enough of the song that it was recognizable.  Occasionally I would start humming along if it was too difficult.  After the children guessed the song, we would sing it.

I only did this with my Senior Primary.  It was a huge success for them, especially because they had to be super quiet in order to hear the song.  It provided an opportunity to involve one of my toughest boys who usually sits in the back and rarely participates.  He volunteered to come up and hum a song for us.
