We're not complete without you
adapted by

Invitation:

Each invitation had a piece of a puzzle glued on the front and said, "We're Not Complete..." On the inside it said, ". . .Like a puzzle with one piece missing--The picture's not complete without you. Please join us for our Primary Inservice Meeting (date, time place)." We passed out the invitations the Sunday before Inservice to be held the following Sunday Evening.

Reminder:

We gave everyone a reminder (which was a piece of a puzzle with the time and place of Inservice written on the back) the day of Inservice. We had laminated the picture/drawing of "Christ and the children" and made it into a puzzle by drawing on the back of the picture before laminating it. Everyone (including Bishopric member, Primary Presidency, teachers, music people, etc.) was given their reminder piece of the puzzle and was instructed to bring it to Inservice that evening. We asked people for their puzzle piece when they arrived and compared the incomplete puzzle to a Primary with missing teachers, music people, presidency members, etc. Our President wanted to help everyone realize how important their callings are and why they (or a pre-arranged substitute) are necessary to keep our Primary "complete" and running smoothly.

Program:

The program cover had a piece of the puzzle with the title, "We're Not Complete Without You!" The meat of the program was as follows: "We're Not Complete Without You" The person with this subject had everyone put their puzzle piece on a poster board with the outline of the puzzle pieces drawn on it. We had a larger version of the picture next to it for reference. We ended up with about 16 out of 40 pieces showing up. This represented 40% of our Primary teachers/leaders. She talked about how important each person is to our Primary and how things don't go smoothly when even one person is missing. She showed her family's work chart and showed what happened when one person didn't do their job. She lightened the mood by having three of us represent her children and asked us to make up an excuse why we didn't do one of our jobs. She showed how everyone works together to make the household run smoothly and related that to Primary.  "Putting It All Together" The person with this subject asked three teachers to share something they do in their classroom that may be beneficial to the other teachers. (We had three great responses which I'll share in another post). Each person spoke for about three minutes.  "Puzzled?" I spoke on things the teachers could do when they had leftover time after their lessons. I used some of the ideas from the Primary Page. I also included several puzzles (word searches, crossword puzzles, etc.) that I got out of the Book of Mormon version of "The Grapevine." (Thanks to Debra for this "obvious" idea that I overlooked!!). I also typed up a handout to help teach the 10 commandments that I learned from Elder Hartman Rector. I went over my handouts and then spent my last five minutes teaching everyone the 10 commandments. I felt that "showing" them how to use the ideas I was giving them would be the most effective; and it was!

- Remarks from the Bishopric

- Refreshments - For refreshments we served a Texas sheet cake (chocolate cake) decorated like a puzzle.
