We are going to include in our Christmas Activity making of dinner plates that the kids design themselves and give the plates to them for a Christmas present. I learned about it at a Relief Society homemaking meeting years ago, where we used coloring books & traced the pictures. Then we let the kids make their own plates and it is fun to see their artwork progress from year to year.  Even my very artistic teenagers love doing this. The melamine plates are dishwasher safe, but can't be microwaved. You draw on a special paper that they sell with their magic markers. It is a lot of fun.
