We are doing
our activity based around angels who visited people from the scriptures
(Angel Moroni, Angel Gabriel, etc.) We thought this tied in well, since
one of the Primary songs the children need to learn this year is "An Angel
Came to Joseph Smith". Our music leader is going to teach the song.
We are doing
it around an airline theme. Our invitations looked like boarding pass
"tickets". Our seating for the activity will be like airline seating. We
are breaking up the wards into 3 classes. It will be a round robin
activity.
Classes are:
"Angelic Behavior" - We
will talk about the angel that appeared inside the Lion's Den to shut the
mouths of the Lions so they didn't harm Daniel. They will talk about
manners, and other behaviors (being a good friend, serving others, and
tying that into Daniel and how he was a prophet who stood up for what he
knew was right).
"Angel Journals" - We will
talk about the Angel Moroni visiting Joseph Smith and telling him to write
his personal history). We have journals for each of the girls that they
can decorate the front cover with buttons and bows.
"Flight Delay" - We will
address repentance and how sometimes in life we have to stop and repent--a
delay in our mission here on earth and liken it to a flight delay on an
airplane).
A light lunch (with angel food cake for dessert) will be served after we
bring all of them back in to close and wrap up the day and classes. Each
of them will be given a set of wings to show that they made it through the
angel air academy (purchased through oriental trading).
