"Don't ever forget to pray" - At a meeting with the Primary General Board and President Hinckley, the General Primary President asked if there was a message Pres. Hinckley wanted to share with the children of the church and he said, “Yes, tell them don’t ever forget to pray.” A member of the board was thinking about this council as she drove home from the meeting and a melody came to her. She stopped and jotted it down and the results are this song so it is a current message from our prophet to the Primary children.  (Click here for more ideas)

I Can Receive Answers to Prayers
I did a Sharing Time where I had "Enos" come in during the middle of Sharing Time pretending to be out hunting for wild beasts. Then he sees the children and starts to tell them how he has been thinking about the words of his father Jacob and how he is concerned for the welfare of his soul, and feels the need to repent, etc. Then he asked the children if they could help show him how to pray, it was so great, the kids thought it was great. Usually the following week we will ask if anyone can remember what we talked about the week before and generally, no one remembers but after that lesson, many of the children remembered that part. They would say "Enos came here" It went so well!! (Arwen Beerman)
I once did a Sharing Time on the power of prayer and I asked 4 brothers from the ward to come and be a character from the bible or book of Mormon. They came in a rudimentary costume of sorts and each told "their" story. For instance, Enos came in and told about how he was out hunting one day pondering about the words of his father Jacob etc. And then another was Alma the elder praying for the welfare of his son Alma and how in answer to his prayer an Angel visited his son and the sons of Mosiah etc. In between each character we sang a song about prayer or any other applicable song. The kids just loved it!!! (Idea by Arwen Beerman)

We were talking about prayer and I came up with the contemporary idea of using my cell phone.  I had arranged with my Mom and Dad that I would be calling at a specific time.  So I described how it is to talk to  my Father when I call him, and when we pray it is the same with our Heavenly Father.  When I called my parents I had the phone on speaker and all the children got to hear them tell me how much they love me and miss me.  They were so happy I called and things like that.  My intention was to make the relationship with Heavenly Father more personal.  It was a success and the smaller children talked about it to their parents for a couple of weeks after.  (Idea by Christie Skelton / ga10012007)
