This is an idea especially for
Young Women and Personal Progress Leaders.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. You will need a copy of front pocket, back of pocket and values
(click
here). (If you want one that is longer lasting you
could make a pocket out of fabric and iron on poem).
2. Put the front pocket face down first, then you will need seven Ziploc
sandwich bags in between, and then the back pocket.
3. Cut values into strips and tape one value on the front of each
Ziploc baggie. The opening of the Ziploc baggie can either face up (north)
or to the side (east) but not where it is bound (west).
4. You can either bind it by stapling it all together or you can put a
few metal rings down the side or even sew them together on a sewing machine
using a gathering stitch.
5. Give each young their pocket. Every week when you teach your
lesson, type up a 3 x 5 card for a handout with a quote or short thought on
it. For example, if your lesson is on
Service, type up a quote that pertains to service and then somewhere on the
card put the value your lesson corresponds to (Value=Good Works). Then
over the coarse of a year, each young woman should have several quotes on
each value. That way when they are called upon to give a thought in
Young Women or Seminary or give a talk in Sacrament Meeting, they'll have a
few thoughts to draw upon. If you want you can take it a step farther,
have the girls write down on the back of the 3 x 5 card one small thing they
could work on that week.
