First, we are playing "personal progress basketball."
To do this, we'll divide our Young Women into two teams. Team One searches
their Personal Progress books for specific Value Experiences based on the
clues a leader provides (see below). While Team One searches, members of
Team Two take turns shooting baskets until every member of Team One has her
finger on the Value Experience in question. Team Two gets one point for
every basket it makes during that time. At the end of a round (five
searches), the teams switch places. Team One shoots baskets while Team Two
searches for Value Experiences. The team with the most points after the
pre-determined number of rounds wins.
Next, the girls will go through value stations. We have seven leaders, so
each will be in charge of a 3-5 minute presentation on one value. I have
copied pages from a book called "Object Lessons on the Young Women Values."
The ideas are awesome! I supplemented a couple of the shorter ones
with a story from a GA talk and an excerpt from "Standing for Something" by
President Hinckley. At each station, the girls who have passed off goals for
that value will be able to sample the snacks offered at the station, which
will all be the color of that value.
The stations should take about half an hour, and so should the basketball.
So at the end, we'll meet as a group and I'll read the welcome letter from
the first presidency at the beginning of the Personal Progress book.
