How do I motivate my girls to
to Personal Progress?

by Pyper Dow

The former Beehive Adviser (now the 2nd counselor) was excellent in this.  She has a wonderful testimony of Personal Progress. EVERY Sunday, she related her lesson to Personal Progress. While preparing her lesson, she would look in the Personal Progress book to see what value the lesson was about. She would incorporate that value experience into her lesson. If the lesson did not fit into one of the value experiences in the Personal Progress book, she came up with her own. She would type it out & hand it to the girls so they would know what they needed to do to complete that value experience. It was fantastic!!! She is truly amazing.  We are having a Ward Young Women Board Meeting in October & she will be talking to our new advisers about incorporating this into their lessons. We are counseled to use the Personal Progress books in our lessons & this kills 2 birds w/ one stone....so to speak. I was the Mia Maid adviser while this sister was the Beehive adviser so I would often chat w/ her before Young Women  to get some ideas.  Also - I would talk about the parent's responsibility at Young Women in Excellence. Or talk to the parents one on one. We had a problem w/ one of our Young Women's mothers. The Young Women counselor met w/ this Young Women & her mother and talked about how important Personal Progress was. The *parents* need to gain a testimony of personal progress or they will not be motivated to help their daughter's.
