Ask the guests to bring what costumes they've got, and you can also make capes to hand out. Make them from the appropriate fabric color, iron the edges with seam tape and then pull elastic and ribbons through to tie (elastic keeps it from being a potential choker).  You can also provide stick-on felt stars and letters for the kids to decorate their capes during the beginning of your Superhero kid birthday parties. Also, supply kids with masks, gloves, glasses or other fitting accessories.

You can come up with lots of fun and creative ideas for decorations for Superhero kid birthday parties. For instance, cut out comic book pages, print images from the Internet and hang all sorts of Superhero posters.

Hang all kinds of action signs such as "POW", "BAM", "KABLAM", and lightning bolts around the party area. You can also make signs saying "No villains allowed", "No passage for Green Goblins", etc.  Gather your kid's Superhero figures, toys, etc. and scatter them around the party area. Use them also as table centerpieces.

You can also set a super scene for your Superhero kid birthday parties with this great spider web entrance that can be used as an awesome backdrop for photos (to send out later as thank you cards). Or, you can go for this less expensive Spiderman door poster.

Additional decorations for Spiderman kid birthday parties can include blue and red balloons and streamers, all sorts of spider decorations you have boxed up from last Halloween. And if you don't, here's an awesome selection of creepy crawlers.

Another cool scene setter idea for Spiderman kid birthday parties is to disperse these great cobwebs all around the party area, doorframes, chair backs and put nets on tables over the table cloth.

Decorations for Batman kid birthday parties should be in black and yellow. Make cutouts of Bats and attach to balloons, streamers, walls and the ceiling or use this pre-made bat decorations.

Another fun idea for Batman kid birthday parties is to make big question marks and place them on the walkway coming into the party area (symbolizing the Riddler).

Create your own invitations by cutting a bat symbol out of black construction paper and pasting it onto a white circle, to look like the "Bat Signal" given by the Mayor of Gotham City. You can write your party details on the back.

Find inexpensive flashlights at your local dollar store, tape a bat shape onto the lens to create your own Bat signal flashlight. Then tie a tag with the party info onto the flashlight and hand deliver to your guests.

Cut a bat symbol from black cardstock paper and write the invitation with a silver gel pen. Or glue the bat symbol to a red 3x5 card. Write the guests name on the bat symbol for a personal touch and then add the party details on the other side of the invitation. "Gotham City needs you!  Come to the Bat Cave for a secret meeting..."

Newspaper Invitation: Cut out newspaper clippings, scatter and glue them onto a piece of cardstock. These clippings will serve as the background for your own homemade newspaper headline and "article". Fold the cardstock in two. On the front side, write an ominous headline that warns of evil villains that are planning to take over the world. Inside, write an article that asks all invitees to come to the party dressed as their favorite Superhero and help the birthday kid save the day and capture all the escaped villains.  You can write something like: "The Riddler (or Lex Luther, Green Goblin, etc.) has escaped, and Batman/Superman/Spiderman and (child's name) need YOUR help!! Come celebrate keeping the planet safe!!" Add the date, time, address (Gotham City, etc.), RSVP, and whatever other info that's needed.

Comic Strip Invitation: Another great idea for Superhero kid birthday parties is to find your Superhero's comic strip (online or from a comic book), make a copy or scan, white out the speech bubbles (or use a graphics program), and fill in the party details in a fun action-filled strip.

Superhero Sandwich: Cut two long loaves of sourdough bread length-wise and fill with layers of meat, cheese, tomato, and lettuce.

Emblem Sandwiches and Burgers: Use specialty cookie cutters, such as a diamond, bat, lightning bold, etc.

Super Power Sticks: Write a sign on a dish that says "For Super X-Ray Vision" and put inside sliced carrots. "For Super Strength" use celery. And so on. Suddenly the veggies aren't what they used to be.

Green Riddler lettuce salad.

Penguin's tuna salad.

Peter Parker's Pizza: Add a warning saying that genetic modification will follow!

Radioactive Spiders: Oval-shaped sandwiches with vegetable stick legs and olive eyes.
Green Goblin guacamole (serve with red tortilla chips)

Bat Cookies - Make your favorite sugar cookie recipe or purchase pre-made, refrigerated cookie dough. Roll out the dough and use a bat-shaped cookie cutter (or make your own template) to form bat shapes. Bake according to directions and cool. When cooled, frost with dark-colored frosting and let the kids decorate the cookies with sprinkles or candy. Red cinnamon pieces make great bat eyes!

Bat-Creme Sandwiches - Use the recipe above for Bat Cookies to make sugar cookies in the shape of bats. After they’ve been baked and cooled, set the cookies aside. Leave them unfrosted, without any decorations. When the cookies have cooled, soften a half gallon of your child’s favorite ice cream. Spread a thick layer of ice cream between two bat cookies and return to the freezer. Freeze cookies until party time. Enjoy!

Bats in a Blanket - Your guests are sure to love these tasty treats. To make them, first purchase your favorite brand of hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff with hot dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake as directed, or until golden brown. For fun, add tiny red cinnamon pieces to make eyes for the bats! Serve warm.

Joker's Jell-O Jigglers - Purchase your child’s favorite flavors of gelatin and follow the directions to make Jigglers. Purchase a bat-shaped cookie cutter and any other theme-related shapes you can find. After the gelatin has set, cut it into shapes to make this popular treat even more fun!

Poison Ivy Punch - Create a drink only true super heroes can handle! Before the party, purchase plastic ivy from a craft store, and cut it into pieces. Then, make some lime Kool-Aid and pour it into ice cube trays. Add a piece of ivy to each ice cube compartment and freeze. On the party day, add green food coloring to your child’s favorite beverage (white grape juice, apple juice and lemon-lime soda work well.) When it’s time to serve the punch, add a few poisoned cubes to each child’s glass. Your guests will be delighted with this dangerously fun drink!

Coolest Kid Party Game Ideas for Superheros Themes

Super Hero Obstacle Course - Every Batman at the party can challenge their “Bat Skills” as they try to make their way through an obstacle course! This activity is best done outside or in a large room. Use household items such as chairs, pillows, sleeping bags, or anything you can find to create a challenging course. Old tires, logs, bicycles, ropes, tools, and sports equipment from the garage can help make the course full of adventure! If you wish, keep track of everyone’s time and award prizes to every child.

Batman Trivia - Hand out Bat quiz sheets to your guests as they arrive to provide an interesting activity until everyone is there. You can get some good sample questions at the Batman Quiz  page. (They also have a Villian Name Game you can try).

Batman Cake Hunt - Some Joker has stolen the cake! Send out your throng of little crime fighters to find the Caped Crusader’s cake. Children love to hunt for surprises, so on this special day create a treasure hunt for the Batman birthday cake! Separate your guests into teams and give each team a set of clues. Make sure that each child has a bag to carry party favors, which will be hidden throughout the hunt with the clues. Make sure the clues and favors lead them to the cake. We recommend keeping the cake close to home, under adult supervision. Excited children running through the house with a cake can be messy! Serve the team who
finds the cake first.

Batcave Bombers- Before the party, decorate a large cardboard box with brown, black, or grey construction paper so it resembles the Batcave. Make paper airplanes for each guest out of the construction paper, or let them fold their own “Batplanes.” Turn the box on its side so the opening is facing the guests. Mark an “X” on the floor with tape. Challenge each guest to fly their Batplane into the Batcave, while standing on the X.

Over and Under Relay - Separate your guests into teams and blow up a balloon for each team. Tell each team to form a single-file line, and give the first person in each line a balloon. When the game begins, the first person must pass the balloon over his or her head to the player behind. The player who receives the balloon must pass it between their legs to the next player. The pattern continues, alternating over and under, until the balloon reaches the back of the line. When it reaches the last person, the players reverse direction and the balloon is passed the opposite way, from back to front. The first team to finish wins.

Unlock the Batmobile - Before the party, make a side-view drawing of the Batmobile on a large piece of paper or poster board. Make the door handle and keyhole large enough to be obvious to your guests. Cut out a cardboard key for each guest and attach a piece of tape to the back. Explain to your guests that the object of the game is to place their key closest to the keyhole in order to unlock the Batmobile. Blindfold each guest in turn, and spin them three times. When they are facing the Batmobile, let them go. Award a prize to the child who is closest!

Fill a Batman plastic drinking cup or favor bag with batman stickers, toy bat-a-rangs, comic or coloring book, Batman fruit snacks and other related toys.    Power Bars, Kryptonite: Pop rocks, Vitamins: Skittles, "Mr. Freeze" ice cream, Catwoman Claws: Buggles work very well because then the kids can put their fingers in them like claws.  Penguin Party Chip and Dip: Use a black plastic top hat and turn it upside down. Then put the chips in it and place a pair of white gloves and a bubblegum cigar by the dip.  Bat pellets: Chocolate-covered raisins.  Jell-O jigglers: Use the same cookie cutters as mentioned in the foods section.
