Obedience to the Lord brings blessings
by Sandra Hess

I brought in the following props and laid them on the table:

staff
rocks
sticks
plastic swords
robes
gold and silver jewelry
a few stuffed animals (that have real counter parts)
paper to draw pictures of any other props they wanted
crayons
a small boat
a rope
a plastic crown

Divide the children by class into groups (or smaller if classes are too big).  Each class is to pick a story from the scriptures (including the D&C) about someone who was obedient and dramatize it during sharing time.

Our rules were:

1. They had 10 -15 minutes to decided on their story, and practice it.

2. They must read a scripture (from their story) that illustrates the story.  (We asked for one verse, but some read two or three)

3. They were to pick two songs from the Children's Song book -- one for an opening and one for the closing of their performance. The songs should go with the theme of their story. We sang one verse of each.

4. They may send someone to the table to view the props, but may not take them for their performance until it is their turn to perform. They may use what ever props they will need.  I had a list of stories with their scriptures reverences ready in case a group couldn't come up with an idea- but only as a last resort. Most had their story decided on even before we let them meet in groups.  When it was each class' turn they came up, we sang their opening song, they did their skit, read their scripture, then we sang their closing song.
