Tips for Stringing Cereal

Don't use yarn it unravels. Use lanyard string. It comes in all different colors and is already stiff enough to string things on. You can find it at any craft store and even at Wal-Mart. Fruit Loops are the best but be prepared more goes in the mouth than on the string. (Debbie Andrus)

You can also buy plastic blunt needles at a teacher supply store. They really work go. I saw some at Wal-Mart but you only get 2 to a pkg. At the teacher store I got 24 for around $3.50. My kids loved stringing straws that were cut into 1 inch pieces.  (MaryLynn Lyman)

Licorice Ropes are always good to use and several come in a package together...and it's edible!

Place tape around the end of the string so it is stiff and easier for the kids to handle. (DeEllen Stowell)

I know that our stake nursery did a nursery presentation for us and the soaked the end of yarn in Elmer's glue and let it dry... it worked wonders!!! They also used colored macaroni noodles... just make sure that they are large size so they don't choke on the smaller ones. (Tammey Rogers)

I usually use yarn with taped or glued ends. A dab of hot glue rolled between your fingers as it cools also works good. I prefer Cheerios because they don't get fingers sticky. The thin "yarn" kind of like embroidery floss but on bigger "spools" also works great (Mine is Aunt Lydia's classic crochet, size 10, I bought it at Wal-Mart) and it doesn't get fuzz in their mouth when they eat of the string. (Janet Cox)

I just did these last Sunday when we talked about smell/taste. We used fruit loops and the stretchy plastic you use to bead necklaces. It worked perfectly and it didn't get all fuzzy like yarn does when you get it wet with your mouth. You can get it at any craft store.  (Megan Brockbank)
