Some suggestions from a Sunbeam Teacher by Nicole Richins / ga03052007
I have two ideas that I use and I thought I would pass on. I am currently teaching the Sunbeams.
1. Before we do anything, even the opening prayer, I ask which of our friends are missing. Then, each child gets to share anything with us. That way, if someone has something they did that they are bursting to tell, they can keep it in during singing and sharing time, because they know they can share it at the first of class.
2. I pick one of the scripture stories each
week, and we sit on the floor in out quiet circle for this very special
story. It is another way to set the stage for them to feel what reverence
feels like. I always use a picture in the middle of the circle, so they
have a visual and it also is the thing that gives the circle dimension and
so they don't squish each other out trying to get their spot.
