A Reverent Child

Reverence Train:  Go on a short walk somewhere in your church building, even just up and down the hall.  Practice folding arms and walking quietly.  Have them think of ways they can show reverence for it, such as by putting litter in the wastebasket, taking good care of the grounds, opening and shutting classroom doors quietly, whispering in the chapel when they need to talk, walking (not running) in the halls.

I can be reverent

I shared with them the poem "What If" it is from the Friend. I printed off a small mouse and gave them it to put in their pocket.  I brought tape for those who did not have a pocket.  They sat so still so that their mice could see and hear. (Idea by Nicole Richins / ga11152007)

Reverence Pictures - Use these pictures of different body parts to discuss what each part should or should not be doing.
We had the lesson on reverence last Sunday. I had the children close their eyes, and I dropped my shoes on the carpeted floor. I asked them what the sound was, and we talked about how loud it was. Then I had them close their eyes again, and dropped fall leaves. We talked about how being quiet as falling leaves was showing reverence to Heavenly Father. Especially in Sacrament meeting.
